Finish: Rude breaks a full nelson with a mule kick, missed by the referee. He hits a vertical suplex and a jumping knee drop. Rude covers, but pulls George up at two and shakes his head ‘no.’ He finishes with the Rude Awakening neckbreaker.

I picked you because I thought I could make the best example out of you to everybody else in Mid-South that the champ is here and nobody is taking this title from around my waist.”

We then go to commentary where Bill Watts and Jim Ross puts over Rude and then previews the rest of the program. This includes the last first round match in the Mid-South North American Title Tournament with Dick Murdoch facing The Missing Link and two second round matches as Kevin Sullivan faces Tommy Rich and Jim Duggan goes against Bob Orton Jr. Plus, Magnum TA vs. The Purple Haze and the Rock ‘n Roll Express vs. the Bruise Brothers.

“Captain Redneck” Dick Murdoch vs. The Missing Link with Woman
Finish: A pretty chaotic brawl throughout. Murdoch ducks under a dive and Link flies to the floor. Murdoch meets him on the apron with a knee thrust that sends him back to the floor. He does this two more times. A spent Missing Link gets on the apron again. Murdoch softens him up with a couple elbows to the dome and brings him into the ring over the ropes with a gourdbuster.

You look into my eyes, Rude. You see the fire. You see the determination. You see a man who doesn’t know the meaning of the word quit. They don’t call me “maniac” for nothing. I’m big, bad and dangerous to know. Overlook me and you won’t be the UWA Universal Champion for much longer.”

Jim Cornette is out at the commentary position with his bodyguard, Bob Orton Jr., and Bobby Eaton, who has a match upcoming with Jimmy Garvin.
“We gave Dennis Condrey the night off. He’s staying at the Super 8 by the highway, but any wild women may want to call first before heading down there. And just as Dennis is getting his personal business done tonight, we’re getting professional business done here in this roach motel Bill Watts calls a studio. Last week, Dennis lost to that no good cheat Michael Hayes. But, we’re not looking at the past, we’re looking at the future and Bobby Eaton beating ‘Gross’ Jimmy Garvin here tonight. The Freebirds are getting their wings clipped by the greatest tag team there ever was or will be in the Midnight Express.”

“Gorgeous” Jimmy Garvin vs. “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton with Jim Cornette
Bob Orton tries to interfere early, so Michael Hayes comes out and runs him off to the back.
Finish: Garvin gets a vertical suplex, but misses a fist drop. Eaton stomps the bad hand and then pulls on it to get Garvin in a single arm DDT. Shoulder breaker for a two count. Eaton misses the Alabama Jam from on high. Garvin with a running big boot to the seated Eaton. He pulls him up for a DDT, but Cornette jumps on the apron. Garvin goes over to him and Eaton suckers Garvin from behind with a schoolboy rollup and a handful of tights. Heels run off before Garvin can get any revenge.

“The Taskmaster” Kevin Sullivan with Woman vs. “Wildfire” Tommy Rich
Finish: Rich gets two off of a flying crossbody and goes to the top rope. Woman distracts Rich from the floor, so Sullivan can shake the ropes and Rich crotches himself. Sullivan goes to the corner to yank Rich off, but Tommy kicks Sullivan in the face to turn him around and gets a second rope flying bulldog. It gets a two count. Rich sets up the Fire Driver, but Sullivan blocks and sends Rich into the near corner. He gives a couple shoulder thrusts and then backs up for a charge. Woman holds Rich’s leg from the floor to keep him in place, missed by the referee. Sullivan with a double knee attack and he bring Rich out of the corner with a belly to belly suplex. Tombstone piledriver for the win.

Footage is shown from last week of Adrian Street coming down and watching Tom Zenk’s match with Bob Orton with Zenk getting distracted and losing. Street is out and Ross asks him what his interests are in the Z-Man.
“I always have my eye out for good, fresh, young talent here in Mid-South. And I like a lot of what I see in Tom Zenk. I think he can give me what I’m looking for. I can’t wait to get him alone…in the ring.”

Magnum TA vs. The Purple Haze never happens as Sullivan’s army jumps Magnum on the way to the ring. The Grappler comes out with a chair and starts clearing house, but Sullivan punches Grappler in the back of the head and he goes down. Sullivan yells into the camera how the strategy is for when his Army of Darkness gets their tag title shot against the champs there won’t be anything left of them to worry about.

As we come back from break, Slick is already in the middle of his tirade in the ring. “...and, now this week the Bruise Brothers have to face off with the Rock ‘n Roll Express. Everyone knows rock ‘n roll was stolen from the black man by that white devil Elvis Presley. We are not letting these lily white teeny bopper heartthrobs steal a win here today. Bill Watts might be trying to keep us down, but we will rise up.”

The Rock ‘n Rolls Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson) vs. The Bruise Brothers (Porkchop Cash and Mad Dog Boyd)
Finish: Morton takes the heat segment. The BB get a double team back suplex. Morton kicks out at two. Cash hits a standing dropkick, but misses a second rope fist drop. Morton crawls for his corner, but Cash grabs the foot. However, Morton comes off the other foot as they stand for an enzuigiri. Tag to Gibson. He’s a house of fire. He attacks Boyd in the corner. He gets a monkey flip out of the corner on Cash and then gets a Rocker Dropper. He covers, but Boyd rushes in to break it up. Morton comes in and they fight, drawing the referee’s attention. Cash nails Gibson with Slick’s cane and makes the pin. However, Koko B. Ware and Norvell Austin come out and point out Slick’s cane in the ring to the referee. Seeing this, he reverses the decision.
Winner: Rock ‘n Roll Express by DQ via reverse decision

“Hacksaw” Jim Duggan vs. “The Ace” Bob Orton Jr. with Jim Cornette
Finish: Duggan lines up the three point stance clothesline, but the referee is looking at the woozy Orton and Cornette pulls Duggan’s leg, so he flops on his face as he takes off. The referee isn’t sure what happens, but scolds Cornette. This allows Orton to poke Duggan in the eyes and rake his eyes across the top rope of the ring. A running shinbreaker gets a two count. Orton slings Duggan to the corner and gets an Avalanche. He sets up Duggan for the superplex. Duggan fights back and shoves Orton off. Duggan with a top rope knee drop and that gets it done.
Winner: Jim Duggan by pinfall

Post-match, Cornette gets in the ring and smacks Duggan in the back with the tennis racket. Duggan no sells it and turns around. Cornette craps his pants. Duggan puts Cornette up in the suplex position, but Orton recovers enough to knee clip Duggan and save his manager as we fade.
